Lead For America Fellows, alumni, and staff are now eligible for Fels admissions benefits
The Fels Institute of Government welcomes Lead For America as its newest admissions partner organization. Lead For America (LFA) is a nonprofit leadership training organization that identifies passionate and talented young people across the United States and provides them with knowledge, skills, and support to create positive impact in their hometown communities. The Lead For America Fellowship program selects, trains, and places promising young leaders in a two-year fellowship to support public-serving institutions in their hometowns. Fellows aim to be catalysts for community revitalization. Lead For America’s mission is to educate and build pathways for 1 million dynamic and diverse Lead For America Fellows to partner with policymakers and coalitions on their communities’ most pressing challenges.
In addition to its three pillars—education, pathways, and systems change—Lead For America teaches its Fellows the model of convergent leadership, which aims to operate at the intersection of foresight, service, innovation, and justice. “Lead For America’s focus on supporting aspiring public sector leaders in their hometowns and their commitment to community-centered public service make for a natural partnership with Fels,” said Mindy Zacharjasz, Director of Master of Public Administration at Fels. “We look forward to working with Lead For America and welcoming LFA alumni to the Fels community.”
As part of this partnership, Lead For America fellows, alumni, and staff are eligible for admissions benefits at Fels Institute of Government. Lead For America Fellows who apply for the Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Fels will have their application fee waived, and those admitted are eligible for an $8,000 scholarship. Lead For America joins an illustrious roster of Fels admissions partner organizations, including AmeriCorps, the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation, City Year, Eastern Leadership Academy, Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Peace Corps, Public Policy and International Affairs Program, Teach For All, and Teach For America. The Admissions Partner Grant program reflects the Fels Institute’s commitment to public service and to increasing diversity in public sector leadership.
