About Joseph C. Meade
Joseph C. Meade is the Senior Vice President for Government, Regulatory and External Affairs at Comcast Spectacor, LLC, which is a part of Comcast NBCUniversal's live sports and entertainment business unit comprised of the Philadelphia Flyers, Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia Wings, and Flyers Charities. Due to his stellar performance and effectiveness, his focus consists of supporting the strategic direction for the future of the arena, organizational culture, and people strategies with responsibility for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities to drive organizational growth along with relationships with the City of Philadelphia, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and other relevant external stakeholders. Mr. Meade serves as the co-chair of NHL’s Government Relations Council, advocating legislative and policy developments that impact the efforts of the league to improve cultural availability and awareness of the sport of hockey with underrepresented audiences.
Mr. Meade has always been civically and socially engaged in the greater Philadelphia region. Before joining Comcast Spectacor, he served as the Chief of Staff to La Salle University President and Executive Director of Government and Community Affairs after a brief stint in the role of the Deputy Secretary of Community Affairs and Development for Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development, which leads community development activities and programs aiding local government, community organizations, private and public businesses in the Commonwealth. Mr. Meade had the opportunity to work at the world-class Philadelphia Museum of Art as its Director of Government and External Affairs amplifying its voice across the spectrum of legislative advocacy issues and communicating its achievements and goals. Additionally, Joe served as the Director of Government and Public Relations for the School District of Philadelphia and as legislative director for the Honorable City Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown.

The Fels Racial Equity and Social Justice Series, led by Fels Distinguished Fellow Matt Stitt ‘12, is designed to provide students with a variety of perspectives on how public policy impacts racial equity and social justice. The series includes conversations with elected officials, policymakers, and public sector leaders to examine how policy, legislation, and practice can further racial equity and social justice goals. Fels is proud to offer these important conversations to Fels students and alumni, the entire Penn community, and members of the public.
