Career Talk with Graham Robb

You are here

Monday, September 10, 2018 - 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Event Information:

The Fels Institute of Government is proud to host Graham Robb on September 10 for a discussion about his career.

Graham Robb works in economic development in the North East of England. The North East of England is a historically depressed economic area in the UK, having suffered a significant decline in the 1970s and 1980s as the UK economy deindustrialized. Graham grew up in Middlesbrough, one of the worst-hit towns in the area. He began his career in journalism, working for the BBC before beginning his own business. This business, Recognition PR, is now one of the most successful Public Relations companies in the area. Graham was deeply involved in local and national politics as a passionate advocate for the economic development of the North East.

He is now a member of the Board of Directors of the South Tees Development Corporation, which is responsible for the redevelopment of 4 miles of old industrial land in Teesside, which has many parallels to Philadelphia's Navy Yard.

Graham is also a Board Member at the Tees Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, and the Vice Chair of the Entrepreneurs' Forum. In these roles, he works tirelessly to build partnerships for job creation, to advocate for the North East as a hub of business, and to support the growth of small businesses in the area.
