Mary Ellen Iskenderian, President and CEO of Women’s World Banking, and her Fels students

Fels students were pleased to welcome Mary Ellen Iskenderian to campus on Thursday, October 3 for our Public Policy in Practice speaker series. Ms. Iskenderian is the President and CEO of Women’s World Banking, a global nonprofit devoted to giving more low-income women access to the financial tools and resources they require to achieve security and prosperity. She shared her experience and insights with Fels students and the broader Penn community through the Fels Public policy in Practice series, moderated by Elizabeth Vale, and she also met with several small groups at Penn.

"Mary Ellen Iskendarian was a wonderful speaker who illuminated the opportunities and challenges in increasing financial tools and resources for low-income women across the world. The Public Policy in Practice series allowed us to learn from her voluminous experiences in a fun, interactive setting where she was able to talk to the issues specific to the students and attendees." - Brian Mechanick, Fels Master of Public Administration student

About the series:

The Public Policy in Practice Series, led by Fels Distinguished Fellow Elizabeth Vale, is designed to provide students with a variety of perspectives and compelling personal narratives that will help them not only form their opinions on important issues but will also help shape their careers. This series is offered in conjunction with the Fels graduate Public Management course required of all Fels MPA and Executive MPA students. Fels is proud to offer these important conversations to the entire Penn community and members of the public. See upcoming Public Policy in Practice events at Fels.
